This year we have implemented changes to the mooring field reservation procedures for first-come first-serve moorings, day use mooring rates, and check in/out times. We’ve also streamlined how all moorings (both day use and overnight) are requested and assigned. To obtain any mooring please read the new procedures and familiarize yourself so that we can ensure a happy boating season for all. We strongly encourage you to read this post to ensure your cruise to Edgartown is a success.

In anticipation of the 2017 boating season, Edgartown Harbor has updated reservation procedures for first-come first-serve moorings, day use mooring rates, and check in/out times. We’ve also streamlined how all moorings (both day use and overnight) are requested and assigned.

First-Come First-Serve Moorings
The biggest of change our boaters will notice: we no longer have a blue mooring field or first-come first-serve moorings as you have know them in the past. All of our moorings will be by assignment only once you are in the harbor.
Day Only Moorings
Day use moorings will no longer be free. A flat fee of $40.00 will be charged no matter how many hours you stay; if you come for the day and end up staying the night you will not be charged another fee. Moorings may be kept until 10AM the following morning, only for the vessel originally assigned. Check out time is now 10AM, while check in time remains at 11AM, which allows us to better turn over the mooring field every day. We hope you can help us provide a positive experience to all boaters visiting Edgartown Harbor by adhering to those times. For day time visitors we ask that you radio us on CH. 74 when you leave so we can make the mooring available for the next person in line.
You may ask “If there are no first-come first-serve moorings anymore, how do I acquire a mooring without a reservation?” While we strongly recommend you reserve a mooring in advance, we understand that this isn’t always possible. See below for step-by-step instructions on how all first-come first-serve moorings are requested. (The short answer: all available, unreserved moorings are now first-come first-serve – we just wont have a special field designated for it.)
Day Of Requests
To obtain a mooring without a reservation or for just the day, you’ll need to start by having a Dockwa account with us. The vessel requesting must be inside Red Can #8 before we will confirm. Assignments for moorings will be given out in the order they are received. All mooring assignments are random in terms of location and available space. You will need a smartphone or access to the internet on your boat to request a mooring when you arrive in the harbor. If you don’t have access to a smartphone or internet access, we can provide assistance via channel 74. Each morning before 11AM, the Edgartown Harbor team consults our Dockwa dashboard to accept reservations for that day only.
For daytime moorings, submit a request the same way you would if requesting an overnight reservation. All requests will be answered in the order in which they are received through Dockwa as space becomes available.
Confirmations / Declines
If you receive a reservation confirmation that means we have a mooring for you! If we decline your request it means that either we are completely full at the time you requested, you’re not in the harbor, or we don’t have space to accommodate the size of your vessel – so you may hear us assigning available space to smaller boats. If your request is declined but you still want to stay, we encourage you to check back later in the afternoon once the day use only boats have started to leave. We do not keep a waitlist – you will just have to resubmit a request via Dockwa at a later time.

Once the season starts our staff is typically available 10AM - 4PM every day, and by the end of June our staff is on duty 7AM - 1AM, 7 days a week to assist boaters. Quick Guide: New Guidelines for Edgartown Harbor
All moorings are now by assignment only. This includes overnight as well as day-use moorings.
Day-use moorings are now $40. Day-use moorings may be used for just the day/lunch or extended overnight for no additional charge.
All moorings, overnight as well as day-use, are assigned only if you have a Dockwa account and make a request via the Dockwa app or website.
Finger pier dockage will be sold in 2-hour blocks at $20 per hour. These are still first-come first-serve for power boats only that are 30’ or under in length with less than an 8’ beam.
Check-out time is now 10AM. Check-in time will remain the same at 11AM. Adhering to these times will help us ensure everyone has their mooring available when they arrive.
Mooring Steps For Boaters Entering Edgartown
Do you have a prepaid reservation via Dockwa?
If yes: Hail us on VHF CH. 74 for your mooring assignment
If no: Go to Step 2
Do you have a Dockwa account set up?
If yes: Go to Step 3
If no: Log onto www.edgartownharbor.com or the Dockwa app, and proceed to Step 3.
If you do not have a smartphone or computer access, call the Edgartown Harbormaster office at 508-627-4746.
For overnight and day-use moorings requested on the day of, submit a request for said day via the Dockwa app or website. Once submitted, your request will enter our daily queue; all mooring requests are taken in the order they are received. Vessels must be inside the harbor to receive a mooring. Proceed to Step 4.
Hail us on CH 74 once you are at Green Can 9 to verify that you are in the harbor. Wait until your Dockwa request is confirmed or denied.
If your request is confirmed, proceed to Step 5,
If your request is denied, we are only able to offer you anchorage in the outer harbor, but we invite you to check back at a later time for cancellations.
